Brentford players return to training today as they bid to bounce back from their play-off heartache against Middlesbrough.

The Bees finished fifth in their first season in the Championship for over two decades but were outclassed by Boro in the play-off semi finals.

Since then, the club has seen Mark Warburton leave, which had been confirmed in February, and subsequently sign for Glasgow Rangers with Marinus Dijkhuizen come in as head coach and he will be assisted by Roy Hendriksen.

The new coaching department will be meeting their charges for the first time today and they will be keen to impress and unite the squad, who were incredibly supportive of Warburton.

The club also brought in Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles as co-directors of football, while Flemming Pedersen has been brought in a head of football philosophy and player development.

On the playing front, Tommy Smith and Nick Proschwitz were released with the latter subsquently signing for FC Paderborn. Alfie Mawson rejected a new deal and signed for Barnsley.

Brentford moved quickly to sign Akaki Gogia and have also added Ryan Williams and Yoann Barbet to the squad.
