Brentford drew 1-1 in their final pre-season friendly ahead of the new season at Millwall as Yoann Barbet's free kick was cancelled out by Steve Morison.

Both sides came together to pay tribute to Lions captain Tony Craig ahead of the game.

In a game that wasn't one for the defenders, chances came regularly but they weren't taken.

Below are four areas the Bees must address going into the new campaign.

Scott Hogan needs to find his shooting boots

Hogan's rich vain of form towards the latter stages of the last term had him being touted as a possible squad member for Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 campaign.

Scott Hogan

However at The Den, much like against Peterborough, Hogan was guilty of missing two clear cut chances in the opening ten minutes - the first after being put clean through which he dragged wide and the second a rebound which would have had the net bulging back in April.

Chances followed in the second half but Hogan was unable to trouble the Lions defence and will now hope he's dusted off the cobwebs ahead of next weekends season opener.

The Bees defence struggle against Millwall's two pronged attack

Millwall certainly grew as the game went on and their long ball tactic provided them with much success against Brentford's centre back pairing.

Steve Morison and Lee Gregory were a constant nuisance in the air and Morison's headed goal drew his side level in the first half. Lion's boss Neil Harris made use of his attackers physicality and both Harlee Dean and Yoann Barbet were kept constantly busy by the aerial prowess of their opponents.

Brentford contribute to their own downfall

Dean Smith in his first full season is undoubtedly trying to implement his style at Griffin Park but judging by the amount of times they needlessly gave possession away work still needs to be done.

Ryan Woods

Both Josh McEchran and Ryan Woods were guilty of giving the ball away under little pressure when in their own half and had Millwall been more clinical could easily have been on the wrong side of the score line.

Hogan needs support if Brentford are too be an attacking force

Despite the striker having an off day in front of goal his cause was not helped as he became increasingly isolated as time went on.

Brentford started brightly in the early exchanges and summer signing Romaine Sawyers linked up well with the Bee's frontman, but especially in the second half Brentford's attacking efforts were curtailed by the lack of support shown to Hogan and they struggled to muster any chances in the second period.

A shame about the crowd

Pre-season friendlies are normally sparse occasions and, sadly, it appeared to be the same at The Den today.

Tony Craig is one of footballs good guys and deserved a big crowd to pay tribute to him.

There were less than 2,000 in the ground for the occasion and Craig was honoured before the game when he came out with his daughter Scarlett and young Millwall fan Harvey Brown.

And he was given a united standing ovation when he was withdrawn just before full-time.
