Adam Forshaw has played down speculation about his future as he prepares for Brentford's Championship challenge.

The former Everton midfielder scooped the League One Player of the Year award last season as the Bees won promotion to the second tier.

Forshaw has attracted the interest of other clubs but still has two years remaining on the contract he signed last summer.

And the 22-year-old insists he's got no plans to jump ship from Griffin Park.

Rising star: Forshaw's performances have caught the eye

"I'm used to all the speculation now after hearing things for the past year and a half," he said.

"You have to take it with a pinch of salt and, although any interest is flattering, your aim is just to do well on the pitch.

"My aim was promotion with Brentford and we achieved that. I've still got two more years left on my contract and am really happy here."

"I've been doing a lot of work with the physios and came back early to try and get myself fit as soon as possible," he said.

"I stayed in for a few more weeks after the season finished and had nice break and was straight back in. The operation needed to be done, so the rehab is part of that."

Forshaw is relishing the prospect of testing himself in the Championship after two seasons in League One.

He added: "I was so excited when I saw the fixtures come out and all of the big stadiums we will be visiting. Hopefully we can hold our own and get results there.

"We need to make Griffin Park a fortress like last year. If we can get off to a good start that will stand us in good stead."
