Brentford midfielder Adam Forshaw will miss the rest of the campaign after undergoing ankle surgery.

The former Everton youngster has been hindered by the problem all season, although it couldn't stop him scooping the League One Player of the Year prize.

But with promotion to the Championship now secured, Forshaw has taken the decision to go under the knife in a bid to get him back in time for pre-season training in July.

The 22-year-old has scored eight goals in 40 games for the Bees this season.

Brentford defender Harlee Dean is also due to have an operation next week to fix an ongoing abdominal problem.
