QPR legend Andy Sinton says there are "lots of positives" as the club approach the end of the summer transfer window.

The Hoops have made a promising start to the league season, picking up seven points from their first five games, and Sinton is pleased with how the side have competed against some tough opposition.

Speaking to GWL, he said: "I think we've made a good start.

"You just have to look at each game in isolation; No-one gave us a chance against Reading who were a couple of penalty-kicks away from the Premier League, i thought we were brilliant and ran out worth winners.

"At Sheffield Wednesday we got a really good point and probably could have won the game, Norwich; we did well up until half time and gave a poor goal away which knocks you but we more than held our own.

" Hull, a team just relegated, we got a result and sent everyone away feeling happy with a last-minute goal after going behind, and then you've got Cardiff where we gave a really good account of ourselves but just came up a little bit shirt against a team who've won five out of five.

"So on the whole I think there's lots and lots of positives."

The solid start to the season comes in stark contrast to the disappointing end to the last campaign, and Sinton says he thinks the club have done things correctly over the course of the summer.

He said: "There was a lot of doom and gloom after how we finished last season and the lack of signings, and there's not been many signings over the summer, i think people were right to talk.

"It's not about getting 10, 12, 15 new players which QPR have done in the past and it hasn't worked. Yes we need a few, but work's going on behind the scenes and a couple will come in in the last couple of days."

He added: "The Championship is a tough division. Every game is hard, it's probably the hardest second tier in the world.

"The Spanish second division isn't as competitive as ours, the German isn't as competitive as ours, the Championship is ridiculous.

"If you look it, clubs are spending loads of money to try and get out of it, it's very competitive and when you go Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday throughout the season, you've got to be on it."

With just over 24 hours left in the transfer window, Sinton says that every club has the same goal at this stage of the window.

He said: "Every team is looking to strengthen and if the right player comes around for the right deal, I think they'll look to do it.

"We've picked up a couple of injuries at the back in recent weeks, but on the plus side, Grant Hall should be coming back to fitness hopefully, Cousins should be getting nearer to fitness and Steven Caulker is getting back into the swing of things and he'll benefit from that.

"The scouting network know exactly what they're looking for and who they're looking at, it's just a case of whether they can get them, because whenever you're looking at someone, there's always another three, four or five teams all looking at the same player.

"It just boils down to the player's choice and the offer that's on the table."
