Barnet have released Lee Cook and Jack Saville after winning promotion back to the Football League, the Bees have confirmed.

Cook scored eight goals in 39 league appearances last season, while Saville made 26 appearances for the club last season.

Manager Martin Allen, who signed a new deal himself, said: “Lee Cook and Jack Saville have not been offered new deals for next season. Both have been really good players for us and both are good friends to me.

"I believe that Sav needs to get out and play forty games in order for his career to evolve and to see where it can take him.

“With regards to Cookie it has been my hardest decision. He has won us games with his brilliant skills and shooting ability, he has been a real help to me off the pitch with help and guidance, and he has been a model professional.

“He has not been bothered at having to clean his own kit and boots, not bothered that we don't stop in nice hotels for pre-match, and not bothered that we bring our own food. After having it throughout his playing career he could have rolled his eyes and moaned. He's a diamond bloke, a great player and a champion.”

The Bees have taken up their options on Andy Yiadom, Bondz Ngala, Curtis Weston, Luke Gambin, Luisma Villa and Elliott Johnson.

Barnet have also offered deals to Michael Gash, Sam Togwell and David Stephens but the futures of Jon Nurse, Sam Cowler and captain Charlie MacDonald remain unclear with further discussions to take place this week.

John Akinde and Mauro Vilhete remain under contract for two more years, while Graham Stack , Sam Muggleton and Keanu Marsh-Brown all have one more year.
