Former QPR boss John Gregory has been appointed as the new head coach at Indian Super League side Chennaiyin.

The former Aston Villa and Derby boss replaces Marco Materazzi as manager of the side who are based in south east India.

Gregory's most recent position was managing Crawley Town, before stepping down from his role in 2014.

With ex-Chelsea man John Terry signing for Aston Villa, when can QPR, Fulham and Brentford expect to come face to face with their bitter rival?

The 63-year-old is not the only recognisable name in the Indian Super League, with former Crystal Palace and Reading boss Steve Coppell managing Kerala Blasters, while Gianluca Zambrotta and Zico are also managing in the division.

It isn't Gregory's first adventure overseas, after managing Israeli clubs Maccabi Ahi Nazareth and FC Ashdod, as well as Kazakhstani side FC Kairat.

The experienced manager was in charge at Loftus Road for just over a year before being dismissed in 2007.
