AFC Wimbledon look set to land former Millwall and Portsmouth defender Paul Robinson.

The 33 year old is something of a legend at the New Den, having played in south east London for 14 years and making more than 350 appearances for the Lions.

But having fallen out of favour, Robinson was initially farmed out to Portsmouth on loan last summer, a move which was made permanent in January when his Millwall contract was cancelled.

He was appointed as Pompey's skipper during pre-season, but left the club on Friday after having his contract cancelled by mutual agreement.

Now Dons boss Neal Ardley , who played alongside Robinson at Millwall for a year in 2006-07, appears to be the favourite to land his former team-mate's signature.

The news should ease the pain for Dons fans of the imminent departure of hot young prospect Daniel Ageyi to Burnley.
