Former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has said Brentford may have problems if midfielder Jota moves away from the club.

In a column in the Sun, the Spaniard carried out a full preview of the upcoming season, and predicted a comfortable season for the Bees.

He said: “I have good memories against Brentford because we always had good results against them.

“Three years ago in their first season in the Championship they made a big, big impact.

“They’re not in the same level now but I think they’ll be midtable and comfortable.

“They may have problems if Jota goes because he can be the key player alongside Lasse Vibe. I really like both of them.”

He did however predict a safe mid-table finish for the Bees, so it wasn't all bad!
