Alie Sesay is grateful for Martin Allen’s ongoing guidance as he looks to establish himself in Barnet’s backline.

Sesay stood out at centre back against York City and put in a performance that Allen described as ‘absolutely magnificent’.

The 21 year old believes he is finding his feet at the club due in no small part to his manager’s advice, saying, “The manager has helped me a lot.

“He’s been good to me and he speaks to me all the time, helping me to improve my game.

“The lads have welcomed me coming in and I feel like I’m in my stride.”

The Sierra Leone international started his time with the Bees at right-back and begun in defensive midfield in the 3-0 win at Newport County.

He doesn’t see himself as having a favourite position, saying, “I’ll play anywhere in the team that I can be of use.

“I just want to play games and get going really.

“We don’t really look too far ahead as a team and we just need to make sure our performances are there.”

Sesay, who signed on an 18-month deal from Leicester City, came away from North Yorkshire on Saturday satisfied with a point, adding, “Recently our away form hasn’t been the best so it’s good to get a point away from home.

“We didn’t start the game as we wanted to, they started a bit brighter than us but we showed character not go under and got a goal back.

“I thought second half we played some good quality stuff and had chances to put it away.”
