Former Fulham boss Chris Coleman is the odds-on favourite to return to the Championship and take the vacant job at Sunderland.

The Black Cats have been looking for a manager since the sacking of Simon Grayson and the current Wales gaffer is now 3/10 on with Sky Bet to take the job at the Stadium of Light.

Coleman began informal talks with the Football Association of Wales last month but is currently awaiting formal talks over extending his spell as the national team boss, and now the bookies are backing him heavily to become the new boss of Sunderland.

Sunderland had reportedly also been interested in Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neil, as well as Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottam, but neither look like they are keen to take the job.

As of yesterday, Oddschecker said that 70% of bets placed in the Sunderland market had gone on the former Fulham manager to become the new boss.
