Former Brentford striker Tommy Smith lauded Ryan Woods and Nico Yennaris after the Bees claimed a 3-1 win over Leeds.

Woods rounded off a man of the match performance with a fine last minute strike that led to emotional celebrations from players and fans alike.

And Smith paid tribute to the composure that the Bees midfielder showed to place the ball into the bottom corner, rather than trying to lash the ball into the net while he also hailed Yennaris for another fine performance in the middle of the park.

The Sky Sports pundit said: “It was a wonderful goal. Ryan Woods and Nico Yennaris in the middle of the park were the two best players for Brentford.

“It's cut back nicely and as he said he's normally lashing at those. It's the control he showed that got him that goal.

“We saw from the penalty if you lean back and tighten up then you send it over the bar. It was good to see him keep his head down and put it into the corner.”

Smith spent a season at Griffin Park, scoring the club's first goal on their return to the second tier in 2014 against Charlton.
