Former Brentford and AFC Wimbledon midfielder Sammy Moore has taken his first step into management after being appointed player/manager at Leatherhead.

The 29-year-old had a loan spell with the Bees at the start of the 2007/08 season, scoring two times in 20 appearances for the west Londoners.

After a stint with Stevenage Borough and Dover, Moore joined AFC Wimbledon in 2010 and helped the Dons to promotion to the Football League in 2011.

The following season, the club's first in the league since their formation in 2002, saw him named player of the year.

Moore spent five years in total at Kingsmeadow, making 167 league appearances and scored 17 goals in that time before his departure in 2015.

He then joined Leyton Orient where he scored twice in 34 league appearances and spent the second half of last season on loan at Dover.

He replaces Jimmy Bullard in the hotseat at Leatherhead, who left the club to take a different job in football.
