The Football League has confirmed that the fixture list that has been doing the rounds on social media over the weekend is a hoax.

The league have yet to draw up a schedule for the 72 league clubs and a 'leaked' document purported to have the list completed.

However, the Football League are yet to even review a first draft of the fixtures and this will not be done for the next 10 days.

They stated on Twitter: “We can confirm the 'fixture list' published online at the weekend is a hoax.

"At this stage we are still about 10 days away from being able to review a first draft of the 2016/17 fixture list.

"It's worth noting a number of the fixtures in the hoax list would not be permitted on those dates for operational & policing reasons."

The fixture list will be released at 9am on Wednesday, June 22.

The Football League season will then get underway over the weekend of August 6th. It will finish in May 6th, 2017 - with the Championship play-off final due to be played later that month on Monday, May 29th.
