Three at the back? Four at the back? Karl Henry doesn’t believe it should make a big difference to QPR .

New first-team coach Glenn Hoddle has been helping Rangers learn to a new 3-5-2 formation this season.

They took on another side who started the campaign using the system on Sunday as the R’s made the long trip to Old Trafford.

Both teams ditched the set-up for the Premier League clash.

It was United who came out on top though, running out comfortable 4-0 winners , as the four QPR defenders struggled to cope with the hosts’ attacking prowess.

But Henry isn’t reading anything into the change in shape as he reckons it’s about how the 11 players on the pitch acquit themselves on the day that counts.

“We’re comfortable with either formation,” he said. “We’ve worked on a couple of different formations and we’re comfortable with both.

Man United changed their formation today. In the modern game, players have to deal with whether it’s a three at the back or a four and last week we were very comfortable and played well.

“Early on against Hull we had three at the back and we also played very well. We didn’t deserve to lose that game.

“It’s about how you perform on the day. Whatever formation we played we wouldn’t have got near to Manchester United because we didn’t approach it in the way we should have done.”

Next up for QPR is the visit of Mark Hughes’ Stoke City on Saturday lunchtime.
