With less than two months to go until the transfer window re-opens, teams up and down the country will already be pulling together a list of potential transfer targets.

QPR have made a decent start to the season, but with the club facing uncertainty off the field, it's almost inevitable that several clubs could try their luck with an approach for a Hoops star.

Each player is in a different situation, with some stars at the top of their game, some not featuring and others looking to gain first team experience to kick-on in their careers.

But which players are likely to attract interest? We take a look at five players who could at the top of someones shopping list.

Alex Smithies

The goalkeeper is arguably QPR's biggest asset.

The stopper has a wealth of experience at Championship-level, and with his consistent performances for the Hoops, any club to make an approach firmly knows they'd be getting a safe pair of hands.

Smithies could attract interest from the top end of the Championship, or even a low-end Premier League side, but the one thing we know is that it would take a substantial bid to convince QPR to sell.

Ariel Borysiuk

The midfielder looked like he was going to revive his QPR career after an excellent pre-season, but it's all fallen flat for the 26-year-old.

Poland international: Ariel Borysiuk

Borysiuk has struggled to break into Ian Holloway's plans, meaning his future may have been decided, with many expecting him to depart from Loftus Road over the summer.

But having failed to regularly feature in the match-day squad, it appears his days could be numbered.

Massimo Luongo

The Australian international has been QPR's standout performer so far this season.

Playing alongside Josh Scowen and Luke Freeman, the 25-year-old is, by his own admission "playing the best football of his career", something which is bound to attract the interest of potential suitors.

Nottingham Forest are one club that have been repeatedly linked with a move for Luongo, but you'd imagine it would take an extremely attractive offer to lure the midfielder away, with the 25-year-old admitting that he is currently settled in west London.

Yeni Ngbakoto

The DR Congo international looks set for an uphill battle at Loftus Road.

Yeni N'Gbakoto

The attacking midfielder has struggled to break into Ian Holloway's first team system, throwing his future at the club further into doubt.

Ngbakoto was heavily linked with a move back to the French Ligue 1 over the summer due to the 25-year-old reportedly failing to settle in west London, and he exclusion from the starting XI will no doubt not be helping.

If he cannot break into Ollie's plans before Christmas, it wouldn't be surprising to see him leave the club in January, potentially on loan in a bid to see him regain the form that brought him to the club.

Reece Grego-Cox

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international boasts a growing reputation in the under-23s set-up at Loftus Road.

A regular scorer at youth level, Grego-Cox has gone on record saying he's looking for a loan move to challenge himself at first team level, something which certainly appears to be the logical next step.

He may not yet be ready for the first team at QPR, but a spell on loan in League Two or the National League could do him the world of good as he prepares to step up to the senior game.
