London is the destination of choice for European cup finals.

There have been a total of nine Champions League, Europa League and Cup Winners’ Cup finals held in the capital over the years.

There have been seven Champions League finals at Wembley stadium with the first being AC Milan's victory over Benfica in 1963.

It also saw Manchester United's first victory in the competition as they beat Benfica in 1968.

Ajax also won one of their three consecutive Champions League titles at Wembley back in 1971. Liverpool won their second title there in 1978.

Barcelona won their first there in 1992 and their second in 2009, while Bayern Munich won the last Champions League final held at Wembley back in 2013.

The city also hosted two Cup Winners Cup’ finals with the first coming in 1965 when West Ham beat 1860 Munich.

These figures don't include Europa League finals prior to 1998 though as they were held over two legs at the two finalists' home grounds.

Rotterdam has also hosted nine major finals.

The Dutch city has had six Cup Winners Cup finals over the years as well as two Champions League finals and one Europa League final.

Brussels has had seven finals including four Champions leagues and three Cup Winners Cups.

Glasgow and Paris have had six finals, while Vienna and Basel have both had five.

These figures include finals that have been awarded but not yet played.
