Brentford goalkeeper Daniel Bentley admits the windy conditions made it difficult against Sunderland on Saturday, but isn't prepared to make excuses for his first half blunder.

With the score 1-1, Bryan Oviedo sent an inswinging corner towards goal only for Bentley to misjudge the flight of the ball and end up in the back of the net.

It was an uncharacteristic mistake from the custodian, but he dusted himself off and bounced back with a much better second half.

And post-match, Bentley spoke to Get West London about Sunderland's second goal.

"I am not going to make an excuse. Yes, the wind has played a part but I back myself not to get done by stuff like that," he said.

"From my point of view it wasn't good enough, and I know the fans wouldn't expect that of me.

"The wind caused a problem all afternoon for everyone. The crossing in the warm-up was difficult but I am confident lad and I back myself.

"That's cherry picking for me, so that's one I will scratch off and I won't dwell on it.

"But it wasn't good enough and no excuses."
