With the football season behind us, attention turns to next season and preparations to ensure everything is ready to go at Loftus Road.

The club boasts new heroes during the summer months, with groundsman Dave Butler taking centre stage to ensure that the pitch is in prime condition for the new season.

Speaking to the club website, Butler says that everything is on track for the Stan Bowles benefit match against Bournemouth on July 29.

He said: "This year was one of the busiest we've had because we had a bit of a cup run at the start of the season, and every game got drawn at home, but it's done really well.

"We usually struggle around Christmas, Janauary and February but that's due to the light.

"We like to go into those months in as good a condition as possible, but it's picked up well in March.

"We're all on schedule. We probably wouldn't want the game any sooner than that. It'll be ok in about six weeks, but it'll be perfect in eight or nine weeks."

Credit must go to the ground staff working behind the scenes, without whom the pitch would not retain it's condition over a robust Championship campaign.
