Chris Long will find out in the next 24 hours whether his loan at Brentford from Everton will be extended.

The striker joined on a one-month youth loan last month, which came to an end yesterday and the Bees are in talks with the Toffees over extending it further .

And the 19-year-old, who has been on the books at Goodison Park since he was five-years-old, is keen to stay but will wait and see what Everton have planned for him.

He said: “I’ve just got to see what happens. I’m enjoying it here and we’re going in the right direction. I’d love to stay but we’ll see what happens.”

Long scored his first goal for the club, in his fifth substitute appearance, as Brentford secured a 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth .

Jonathan Douglas’ early goal was cancelled out by Danny Pugh before Alex Pritchard’s free-kick gave the Bees a 2-1 half-time lead.

The Cherries pushed forward looking for an equaliser and Brentford picked them off on the counter with the striker scoring in second-half stoppage time to secure all three points .

Long added: “It’s been a long time. I’m just happy the team won. It’s not about goals, just the victories.”

The victory enabled Brentford to put behind the upheaval of the last two weeks which culminated in the announcement that Mark Warburton will leave the club at the end of the season .

Departing: Brentford Manager Mark Warburton

The 19-year-old insisted every player was behind the departing boss and, as long as he stayed, would give everything to try and win promotion .

He said: “I’ve never been in a situation like this before but it was a good win today.

“We’re right behind the manager and we’re looking to make the play-offs so we’ll see what happens.”
