When will Sky announce their TV games?

Sky Sports
Sky Sports

Sky will announce their opening weekend games when the fixtures are announced and will soon confirm the choices for the second weekend of action in the coming days.

Fans grew frustrated last season at the late changes the broadcasting corporation made and the league will be confirming ahead of time when Sky will be changing the schedule.

EFL competitions manager Paul Snellgrove told the league website: "This year, the live match TV selections for opening weekend will be released with the fixtures on 22nd June at 9.00am. The following weekend’s selections will then be made in the following days.

“We have looked to make improvements to the announcement process this year, and the EFL will be announcing the release dates for live selections throughout the season in due course.

"There will be a number of live fixtures from the opening weekend matches. We are starting a week before the Premier League so as ever we are seeking to showcase the EFL with live opportunities across that weekend.

"The final day fixtures will again see live TV coverage, with the date and kick-off time for all three divisions of the Sky Bet EFL being announced next week."

When will the local derbies and high profile games be played?

These will be scheduled for a weekend to be determined. However, it can be confirmed that a high profile fixture will not be scheduled for the opening or final day, midweek nor in the Christmas period. This is to ensure costs are kept down as these have been considered as key dates. Boxing Day games are always well attended meaning teams will play nearby sides, although not rivals.
