Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is not fit enough to start tonight’s Champions League clash against AS Roma in the Stadio Olimpico, according to Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The 30-year-old Ivory Coast international has not started a match for over a month since suffering a knee injury in the goalless draw against Cluj, although he did come on as a late substitute in Saturday's 5-0 demolition of Sunderland.

Scolari said: "Anelka will start the game but Drogba is not ready.

"Drogba can play maybe 20-25 minutes, not more. So as he is in a better condition now, I will play Anelka.”

Defender Ashley Cole is also out with a calf problem as the Blues go in search of the double over a team beaten in all of their last five matches.

John Terry’s 78th minute goal was the difference between the sides at Stamford Bridge on October 22.
