New AFC Wimbledon signing Dave Winfield with be in familiar surroundings this weekend as he prepares to make his debut at former club Shrewsbury Town.

Manager Neal Ardley bolstered his defence with the capture of the powerful centre-back last night on a one-month loan deal from League Two rivals York City.

The 26-year-old former Wycombe Wanderers star moved to the Shrews from the Chairboys in the summer of 2013 before moving to the Minstermen for the start of this term.

He has started just four league games though as his progress has been interrupted by a thigh injury and Ardley is delighted to have signed a player he has chased for a while now.
