AFC Wimbledon will protest the red card shown to George Francomb 40 minutes into the 1-0 defeat by Southend.
Boss Neal Ardley reckoned anyone seeing it on TV highlights will ‘have a laugh.’
But there wasn’t much to tickle AFC fans as their side bravely withstood a second-half push from the visitors only for Southend to snatch the only goal of the game 15 minutes from the end.
“I thought we played really well in the second half, and in truth they didn’t bother our keeper very much,” the Dons manager said.
“Just one quality cross and it was decided.
“Sure, we’ll appeal the sending-off. It was apparently for studs raised, but it didn’t look like that to me, and I’ve since seen it again. It was so never a red card, it’s hard to believe. But if I say too much, I’ll get in trouble.
“If anything it looked as if their bloke had also fouled George.”
