Brentford are close to agreeing a new deal for star striker Clayton Donaldson.

The Bees hitman topped the scoring charts with 18 goals last season as they clinched promotion from League One.

However, Donaldson will be able to walk away for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the month, with Championship rivals Bolton, Birmingham and Rotherham keeping tabs on his situation.

The 30-year-old is keen to remain in TW8, and Get West London understands he is close to thrashing out terms to extend his stay with Mark Warburton's men.

Donaldson has plundered 53 goals in 155 games since his switch from Gresty Road in 2011.
