Clayton Donaldson is in no hurry to sign a new deal at Brentford as it could be the last one he gets.

The 30-year-old striker, who has scored 18 goals this season, is out of contract in the summer but re-opened talks with the club over his future this week.

Although he could realise his ambition of playing in the Championship by staying at Griffin Park following Brentford’s promotion, the striker will see what is put on the table first.

He said: “I’m happy to sit and talk further and see how it goes from there. Playing in the Championship was always my my number one target. I've always wanted to test myself and prove myself at that level.

"But I’m 30 now and not getting any younger, so this next deal is really important for me personally. The club respect that, so I will take my time and they will take theirs.”

Donaldson has scored 53 goals in 153 games for the Bees since arriving on a Bosman free transfer from Crewe in 2011.
