Jota El Rey, the greyhound named after the Brentford wing wizard, had a disappointing race debut finishing sixth and last at Towcester.

The dog, racing out of trap three had a poor start and was always playing catch up from there.

It wasn't to be though as Xavier claimed the victory in 15.42 seconds followed soon after by Towstar Lucy.

Paulees Bluemoon, racing in its 100th race, finished third, four lengths back.

Jimmy The Liar finished fourth a further length behind with Nimrod Son a further two lengths back.

That left Jota El Rey coming in last eight and a half lengths behind the winner in what proved to be a tough debut. Nonetheless, it will be an experience for the greyhound as it starts its career.

The syndicate, named Jotainthelastminute, only formed in February after the Spaniard scored a hat-trick against Rotherham and the name stems from Jota's last minute goals against west London rivals Fulham.
