Diego Costa has been benched again by Jose Mourinho but Thibaut Courtis returns to the Chelsea starting line-up for the visit of Bournemouth.

Costa was an unused substitute in last Sunday's goalless draw with Tottenham and appeared to be far from happy with his manager's decision to omit him from the side.

Mourinho has repeatedly played down reports of a bust up with last season's top scorer and has today opted to continue with a three-pronged attack of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro.

Courtois has been missing since August after undergoing knee surgery and replaces Asmir Begovic between the sticks having passed fitness checks during training at Cobham on Friday.

Baba Rahman gets the nod at left-back in place of Cesar Azpilicueta while Ramires, John Terry and Radamel Falcao remain sidelined with injuries.

Branislav Ivanovic wears the captain's armband against Eddie Howe's side.

Chelsea team to play Bournemouth: Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Baba; Fabregas, Matic; Willian, Oscar, Pedro; Hazard

Chelsea subs for Bournemouth: Begovic, Azpilicueta, Mikel, Loftus-Cheek, Traore, Remy, Diego Costa.
