Harry Redknapp admits he didn’t see Charlie Austin’s stunning hat-trick coming after West Brom’s flying start at Loftus Road.

Joleon Lescott and Silvestre Varela gave Albion a dream start before Austin’s heroics saw QPR battle back to win 3-2 in dramatic fashion.

Redknapp was worried the Baggies were going to run away with the game when they came flying out of the blocks but paid tribute to his team after an incredible turnaround.

“Charlie scored the goals and we showed character to come back from two down,” said the R’s manager.

Hat-trick hero: Charlie Austin celebrates

“We were getting outplayed and it was difficult to live with them in the early period. To come back from that and win 3-2 was fantastic.

“At 2-1 down at half-time we had a mountain to climb against a team that had conceded less away goals than anyone else in the Premier League.

“But we got the goals we needed. Not many people could have seen that coming.”

Redknapp hopes an ankle injury suffered by Yun Suk-Young isn’t too serious.
