MAHAMADOU Diarra will play his first game for more than nine months in this afternoon's development clash with Reading.

The Mali midfielder hasn't featured for Fulham since the home defeat to Spurs in December due to a serious knee injury.

Diarra's deal at Craven Cottage expired in June but the 32-year-old is back in full training as he tries to prove his fitness to manager Martin Jol.

And the former Real Madrid star will get another chance to stake a claim for a new contract with a run out for the Under-21s at Reading today.

“He had the chance to stay here and use our medical stuff and try to get a new contract," said Jol.

"He is now at 70-75 per cent and training fully with us.

“He needs games now and he will play his first game with the U21s on Monday.”
