Toumani Diagouraga hopes he has done enough to keep his place in the Brentford side to face Reading tomorrow.

The Bees midfielder has been restricted to a bit-part role so far but made his first league start of the season in Tuesday night's defeat at Watford .

Diagouraga spent a stint on loan at Portsmouth last campaign and admitted he considered another temporary switch to get first-team football.

However, the 27-year-old, who is in the final 12 months of his contract at Griffin Park, is hellbent on keeping his place in Mark Wartuton's starting XI.

He said: "It is tough not playing but you have to stay professional. You have to keep working hard and make the most of it whenever you get your chance.

"I thought about a loan move a little bit. I wasn’t quite sure where I figured. I had a chat with the manager and I’m here and giving everything to Brentford.

"It was good to get back on the pitch and get a few minutes. I’m pleased with the impact I had and hopefully I can keep my place."
