DEXTER Blackstock netted twice against former club Southampton as Rangers stormed to fourth place in the Championship.
Blackstock wasted no time in putting Rangers in the driving seat, smashing home from close range after a long throw from Matthew Connolly had reached him at the far post.
And he blasted in the third after sub Patrick Agyemang had had a shot blocked by over-worked Saints keeper Kelvin Davies.
Iain Dowie's men were undoubtedly helped by a contentious decision to red card Saints debutant Oliver Lancashire after half an hour, but their overall superiority was never in question as they maintained a 100 per cent home record.
Adam Lallana levelled it for the plucky 10-man visitors after 53 minutes, but Damion Stewart restored the lead after getting on the end of a curling Martin Rowlands free-kick - albeit with a hint of offside.
And Agyemang rubbed salt into raw Saints wounds with a fourth at the death - a reward for an energetic contribution after coming on for Hogan Ephraim on the hour.
