Scott Barron has confirmed he will be leaving Brentford when his contract expires in the summer.

The former Millwall full-back has been restricted to just five appearances this season due to an ongoing hip problem.

Barron’s deal runs out at the end of the campaign, and the 28-year-old says he will be heading for pastures new.

He said: “I haven’t spoken to the club yet but I don’t think I’ve warranted a new contract.

“I don’t deserve it. I haven’t performed well enough and it hasn’t gone particularly well for me.”

Barron admits it’s been a bittersweet season for the left-back, who hasn’t featured since September due to his injury problems.

He added: “It hasn’t gone well for me on a personal note, but to get promoted is great.

“I’ve only been involved in four or five games, so there’s a slight tinge of disappointment that I couldn't have played a bigger role.

“But the main aim for me since I’ve been injured is to try and support the lads around the place. It’s a great achievement to win promotion.”
