Dean Smith revealed that John Egan went off after feeling dizzy in the 3-0 win against Bolton.

The Brentford skipper had an aerial collision with Trotters captain Jem Karacan and, although he tried to run it off, was forced off after 15 minutes.

And Smith revealed that the Irishman was concerned that his dizzyness could hurt the team so was happy to come off.

He said: “He's got a whack with a brave header and he felt dizzy. It's a sign of the man he is that he felt if he carried on then he'd make an error of judgement. He decided to come off and Yoann (Barbet) came on.”

The Frenchman scored the opening goal with a sublime free kick before Nico Yennaris and Ollie Watkins both scored with sensational efforts to seal the win and ease the pressure on Smith from the supporters.

He added: “I feel good. I said to the players that I have no fear if we do the things we've been doing. I've never seen a drop in their confidence. That gives me and the coaching staff a lot of heart.”
