Dean Smith is delighted to see Alan Judge make his Republic of Ireland debut as Brentford's talisman returns to domestic duty.

After scoring 14 goals and setting up a further nine, the midfielder was finally handed his debut by Martin O'Neill delighting the Bees head coach.

However, paternal duties meant that he was unable to watch his charge in action.

He said: “I'm very proud of him. It's great to see one of your players make their international debut.

“It was great that he got 90 minutes in a winning game. I didn't actually see the game. I was watching the text while I was taking my daughter to a Vamps concert.”

Lasse Vibe has returned to Jersey Road revitalised after going away on international duty with Denmark.

He added: “He's really enjoyed it. The Danish national team have a new coach, with new ideas. It did him the world of good.

“He got half an hour in the first game and to be amongst the elite of his country will be good for him.”

He explained: “He was in Sevilla. He's not got the same sunshine here that he was used to. He played 40 minutes against England but he enjoyed being with the international team again.

“We'll watch him in training. At this moment in time we're not blessed in wide areas with John Swift being a doubt.”
