Konstantin Kerschbaumer has a chance to stake his claim for a first team spot after the injury towards Lewis Macleod.

While everyone connected with Brentford wishes the Scottish midfielder well, head coach Dean Smith must now think about how to work without him.

And the Austrian, who replaced Macleod at QPR after the injury, is one of the contenders to be selected for Friday night's meeting with Fulham.

“It could be (a chance for him). There's one less player in that area of the pitch. He's a goal threat. I was disappointed he didn't score as it'd have been a great boost for him,” he said.

“We played a game behind closed doors on Monday and he looked really bright. He's not far off being part of a starting XI.”

Smith will also have Lasse Vibe as an option after the Dane shook off an ankle injury to be available for the game with Fulham.
