The midfielder has been called up for the young Lions' European Championship qualifier with Switzerland on Saturday.

Smith, though, is delighted to see the young midfielder called up for international duty.

Boss: Dean Smith

He explained: “I think it's good for Brentford, John Swift and Chelsea as well. It shows the clubs trust us with their players.

“The style of football that we're playing suits a lot of Premier League clubs. It can be a rollercoaster for young players. They play some really good games and some are not so good. We have to help them with their development.”

The 20-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Bees, scoring on six occasions.
