AFC Wimbledon midfielder Dean Parrett rued a killer instinct in front of goal against Northampton Town on Saturday.

The Dons were beaten by Matt Taylor's penalty late on in a game which should have produced at least a point on the balance of play.

Parrett believes a cutting edge was missing and it's something Wimbledon will need to rectify between now and the end of the season.

"It was frustrating as everyone played really well, it was just that final ball and final finish," he said, post-match.

"The way we lost the game is a bit gutting but we have to just move on to the next one.

"I felt we should have actually had a penalty ourselves when Lyle Taylor went down the wing and played it in and the ball hit one of their player's elbows to stop it going into the box.

"But it is what it is and we can't change it. It was just frustrating after the run we've been on recently, we have gone to some hard places and got some results.

"To come back home you want to try and take all three points.

"We spoke after the game and felt a 0-0 would have been a fair result in the end.

"No team looked like they were really going to score. There just wasn't that cutting edge in the end."
