The Combined Counties league season kicks off this weekend with the borough’s sides looking to improve on their previous campaigns.

Hanworth Villa are in the hands of the right man ahead of the Combined Counties Premier Division season, according to chairman Gary Brunning.

Villa’s previous season was disrupted by numerous managerial changes, but Brunning believes in Wayne Noad they have found a quality leader after they were reprieved from relegation last season.

Hanworth Villa: Wayne Noad

“We had a very disruptive season last season and things just weren’t going right, but we’re confident now.

“Wayne Noad finished the season and did very well. During the summer, he’s built fantastic team spirit with good numbers and good quality players.”

Bedfont Sports boss Mick Snowden believes that his Bedfont Sports side can top last season’s 15th place after a confident pre-season.

“We’re pleased with our pre-season – we’ve played four and won four. They’ve mostly been against step six or seven teams,” Snowden said.

“We’ve kept all of our players from last season, and aside from a poor patch of nine matches without a win, they were definitely good enough for mid-table.

“This time around, hopefully with a few more additions, we will be gunning for that top ten position.”

In Division One, Bedfont & Feltham boss Louis Carder-Walcott is eyeing up further glories for his side after lifting the RPM Records Division One Challenge Cup last season.

Having finished in fifth place last season, the Yellows boss is eyeing improvement in this campaign.

“We want to be challenging for trophies again this season, preferably the league,” he said.

“I have a taste for silverware after last season’s cup win.”

And Carder-Walcott believes that his squad is gelling nicely as they anticipate Saturday’s Division One opener against Banstead Athletic at the Orchard.

“We have got new signings and we have kept hold of players. With an emphasis on attacking. It is the players coming together as a team that I am looking forward to seeing.”

Elsewhere, CB Hounslow United chairman Frank James is looking forward to a good season in Division One after strengthening the club’s infrastructure.

“The signings have added strength to the first team.

“Two or three lads have left, but the group is as strong – if not stronger.”

“The management team is also stronger. Barry Chapman has got a good group around him – it’ll be interesting to watch how they grow.

“The reserves are very good this year. We’ve got our under-18s in that group as well, and our youth section is strong too. We’re looking forward to a good season.”

Opening fixtures (August 8): Bedfont Sports v Knaphill, Hanworth Villa v Badshot Lea, Abbey Rangers v CB Hounslow, Bedfont & Feltham v Banstead Athletic.
