QPR legend Andy Sinton says that presenting Stan Bowles with the first edition of the 2017-18 shirt was "fitting" and "the right thing to do".

Bowles, who is renowned by many as the greatest player in QPR history, was presented the new shirt by club ambassador Sinton, and long-time best friend Don Shanks at his home in Manchester, something which Sinton says was a fitting tribute to a club great.

Speaking at the launch of the new kit, Sinton said: "It was very fitting. I count myself blessed that I've played for this fantastic club. It's had some fantastic players over the years, but Stan, arguably, is the greatest player that's ever played for QPR.

"With the situation that he and his family find themselves in, we thought it was the right thing to do to present him with the first shirt.

"It was good to see him in Manchester, he was in good spirits, and we've got the benefit game at the end of July, which will i hope will be well supported and can hopefully help him in a small way."

Sinton was joined by former QPR stars Kevin Gallen, Ian Gillard and Martin Rowlands at the launch of the 2017-18 QPR kit at the Superstore near Loftus Road.

The new kit has received a outstanding reaction from the club's fans, many of whom have admired the homage to the history of the club in the design, something which Sinton agrees with.

He said: "It's really nice, I really like the new shirt.

"It's very traditional, with thick hoops all the way round. It's nice to see all three kits with hoops all the way round, It seems to have been well received by all of the fans."
