It’s almost that time of the year again as we hurtle towards the announcement of the Premier League fixture lists.

Chelsea fans can soon start planning their first away trips of the season after a long wait over the summer.

So get your diaries at the ready and start getting excited.

But when can you start jotting down the dates and analysing the Blues’ end-of-season run-in? Here’s everything you need to know.

The short answer

The fixtures for the 2015/16 League Two season will be revealed at 9am on Wednesday, June 17.

What happens next?

Each team plays one another and at the end of the season we see who's won the league, who else has will be joining them following promotion and the three relegated clubs.

But before then, broadcasters will have their say on which games they wish to move to different days and times over the weekend for TV coverage so of course don't bank on every Blues game falling at 3pm on a Saturday.

Who did Chelsea face on the opening day last year?

Cast your mind back to August 2014 and that memorable night at Turf Moor.

Diego Costa wasted no time in opening his account, Andre Schurrle finished of an incredible team goal and Branislav Ivanovic put the gloss on a 3-1 win over Premier League new-boys Burnley.

Chelsea stayed top of the pile from that day forward to end their five-year wait to get their hands on the trophy.

So when does the season start?

The 2015/16 campaign gets underway on August 8, with the Premier League and Football League seasons kicking off at the same time.

Last season's opening Championship game was on Saturday August 9, while the top flight started a week later.

It is a slightly earlier kick-off this year due to the European Championships in France next summer.
