Summary from the Special One

That’s all from the broadcast section of today’s press conference.

Mourinho seemed more relaxed than he has done in recent encounters with the media, perhaps the international break has given him a proper chance to recharge his batteries.

Here’s a quick summary of what we learnt from the Chelsea boss today…

  • Courtois is back in training and will return to action next month.
  • Falcao remains sidelined with a muscle injury.
  • Chelsea are not looking to buy new players in January.
  • Mourinho remains confident he has the support of Abramovich
  • The Special One is confident an improved result will come against Norwich.

Learning curve for the boss

Losing doesn’t come naturally to Mourinho but he’s had to get used to it this season.

The Blues have made a terrible start to the defence of their Premier League crown.

Despite admitting it isn’t a pleasant experience, the Chelsea boss says he will learn from everything football throws at him.

“It is an experience, it is an experience I was waiting for many years to have it.

“You never know when it is coming, but I don’t know whether it has improved me. Every experience in management is positive, but I still like the experience of winning.”

Confident of beating Norwich

Chelsea need results and they need them fast.

Jose is confident tomorrow will grant them three points.

Mourinho: “I think we are going to play well, I think we’re going to get a good result.

Stamford Bridge has been very good for us. It’s one more reason to try to give Stamford Bridge what they want.”

The Special One then refuses to put a narrower timescale on Courtois’ return.

There were rumours of Eden Hazard being ill while on international duty but the Belgian is fit to face Norwich.

No January signings needed

Mourinho isn’t expecting a busy January transfer window.

He said: “I will not ask the board to change things in January.

“I don’t need the club to spend money or to clean the dressing room like I read in some places.”

The Special One will welcome Courtois back in December and will have Falcao ready soon.

Support from Abramovich

Michael Emenalo backed Mourinho earlier today and said Roman Abramovich fully trusts the Special One.

Jose is grateful for his words but says he always knew the Russian was behind him.

“Nothing that went public is something that I didn’t know before.

“We were champions four months ago, not four years ago. The managers are the same, the players are basically the same too.

“Nobody gives me a contract for four years if they don’t trust the person. Nobody gives contracts to players if we don’t trust them.

“There are reasons for that trust. The power is in the hands of the owner and the same way they show to me, it is time also for us to give a positive answer.

“It’s important for us to go to a good period because the owner, the board and the supporters deserve so much. Even more than them, the players and I deserve it because we are working hard.

“I believe the good moment will arrive.”

Paris attacks

Chelsea will be stepping up security at Stamford Bridge following the Paris terror attacks and Mourinho begins by addressing the situation.

Jose: “My reaction is the reaction of everyone.

“My power to help is obviously nothing but we are in a football world that is powerful in terms of a way to show feelings, solidarity.

“I think all over the world they tried to show the support and the pain. The England v France match was the best example.”

Keeper boost for Blues

Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois has given the Blues a much-needed fitness boost by returning to training.

The Belgian has not featured for Jose Mourinho’s side since late August and is targeting a return to first-team action soon.

He will not be in contention to play against Norwich this weekend, as Chelsea look to climb the league table following a nightmare start to the season.

Here’s something to keep you busy while we await Mourinho.

They say the grass isn’t always greener on the other side - but does that old adage ring true for the players that waved goodbye to Chelsea this year?

As we approach the opening of the January transfer window, GetWestLondon has been taking a look back at what happened when the Blues shut up shop for the summer.

A few big names headed out the door at Stamford Bridge to seek pastures new, some travelling far while others simply moved across the capital.

But what happened next for the departing Chelsea stars? Let’s take a look at how they are all getting on in their new clubs…

Welcome folks

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to live coverage of today’s Chelsea vs Norwich City press conference.

Jose Mourinho is set to sit down with the media at Chelsea’s Cobham training base at 12noon ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Canaries.

The Blues need a victory by any means necessary this weekend after the club’s worst start to a Premier League season under Roman Abramovich’s rule.

Mourinho wasn’t even allowed to watch from the dugout when Chelsea suffered their latest setback as they went into the international break on the back of a defeat to Stoke City.

Things need to change fast or there will be more questions over the Special One’s position despite Abramovich giving him his personal backing in the form of a vote of confidence.

Stay tuned for everything the Portuguese tactician has to say right here.
