Table-topping Chelsea take on the only other Premier League team with a 100 per cent record at the start of the season when they entertain Swansea City this weekend.

Simon Gaskell, reporter at WalesOnline, has been giving us the lowdown on the Garry Monk’s side and has picked out three players who the Blues should keep a close eye on.

He starts with a summer signing from Tottenham, who Swansea fans are very pleased to have back in the ranks at the Liberty Stadium.

Among the goals: Nathan Dyer celebrates after scoring against Burnley

Gaskell explains: “Nathan Dyer may have grabbed the goals so far this season but it is the man in his second spell at the Liberty, Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has been the Swans' best player by a distance.

“After his loan spell in 2012, Sigurdsson has re-integrated effortlessly into life in South Wales following his summer arrival from Spurs - having played a part to one degree or another in all six Premier League goals scored by Garry Monk's men.

“That includes an opening-day strike at Old Trafford, while he displayed his ample vision and ball-playing ability with defence splitting balls for Dyer to score against Burnley and notch his second against West Brom.

“In South Wales they are already labelling the 25-year-old the signing of the season and Chelsea will need to have their wits about them to nullify him on Saturday.”

Wilfried Bony was linked with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs this summer and Swans supporters feared his heart may no longer be at club.

However, the Ivory Coast international’s recent performances have shown nothing could be further from the truth.

Committed: Wilfried Bony

Gaskell said: “Bony has yet to score this season and that is precisely why I think Chelsea should be worried about him this weekend.

“His general play in his performances so far has been outstanding. He has protected the ball from defenders with typical brute force while bringing the likes of Dyer and Wayne Routledge into play with some audacious touches.

“The one missing aspect from his game has been finding the back of the net - something he did 25 times in all competitions last season.

“But he has been getting closer, seeing a header cleared off the line against Burnley and finding himself space 12 yards out in front of goal against West Brom only to blaze Jefferson Montero's centre over. That first goal of the season may be just around the corner.”

Chelsea are confident that Diego Costa will be fit to lead the line again this weekend despite withdrawing from Spain's squad to face Macedonia with a hamstring injury.

The man he needs to beat is former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski and Gaskell is looking forward to the contest between the two.

Shot-stopper: Lukasz Fabianski

He added: “No-one ever goes to a game saying 'we're going to have to watch out for their goalkeeper' but I think Lukasz Fabianski could provide an interesting sub-plot this weekend.

“The big Pole hasn't put a foot wrong this season with an outstanding performance at Old Trafford followed up against Burnley.

“But I think Stamford Bridge will be a different test altogether and, given his Arsenal history, one he will be keen to pass with flying colours.

Chelsea's Diego Costa celebrates his team's third goal of the game after Everton's Seamus Coleman scores an own goal.
Hoping to be fit: Chelsea's Diego Costa

“Chelsea are likely to create more clear-cut chances than Swansea have been used to seeing carved out against them this season.

“How Fabianski fares in one-on-one situations and with a striker of the class of Diego Costa when he’s able to get a clear sight of goal will go a long way to deciding the result.

“The 29-year-old has clearly been relishing the opportunity of being number one and for Swansea to stay unbeaten, it is almost certain he will have to call on that renewed confidence and maintain the rich vein of form he has been in.”
