Chelsea U23s take a break from league action and kick off their Premier League International Cup at Aldershot tonight as Feynoord visit the EBB Stadium.

The game will kick off at 7.05pm and we'll be bringing you LIVE match and goal updates from our dedicated live blog throughout the evening.

Kurt Zouma has featured in the past four Premier League 2 fixtures as he steps up his recovery from injury, while John Terry and Cesc Fabregas featured for the side against Southampton on November 21.

Feyenoord are expected to bring an experienced squad for the game which manager Adi Viveash is expecting to be a good test for his youngsters - we've got all you need to know right here.

The competition

The International Cup is the Premier League's continental competition for development teams and this will be the third time that Chelsea have taken part.

The early stage of the competition is formed of groups, with Chelsea having been drawn with Feyenoord, Dinamo Zagreb and Swansea City in Group D, with the winners of each group and two best second placed sides making the quarter finals.

Last year, Chelsea made the semi-finals but were beaten by PSV at Aldershot in March, while the season before that they were beaten 4-3 by fellow west Londoners Fulham in the qurarter-finals.

Chelsea are the only side in Group D that haven't played a game yet, with Swansea having played two already, drawing one and winning one game.

Meanwhile, tonight's opposition have lost their only game, while Dinamo Zagreb have drawn theirs, both against Swansea.

Chelsea's form

Chelsea have seen an upturn in form in their Premier League 2 campaign and are unbeaten in five in all competitions.

Their recent form has seen them up to fourth in the table having lost only twice all season, but their form in the Checkatrade Trophy hasn't been as good, losing twice and beating Oxford United on penalties.

That said, despite being unbeaten in five they have only won one of those games, against Southampton, and have drawn the other four.

Adi Viveash's thoughts

Viveash wants his young Chelsea side to use their experiences in the Checkatrade Trophy this season in tonight's tie against Feyenoord, with both competitions using the same format.

He told Chelsea's official website: "It will be interesting to see if we can take a few of the lessons learned from the Checkatrade Trophy, which was the same format in being three group games.

"There’s a different approach where we put a bit more pressure on compared to the league games and we expect to go out to win.

"For the older players in particular, it’s a very important competition because we want to be challenging for some silverware in the second half of the season.

"It’s a trophy that we haven’t won before and hopefully the players who were beaten in the semi-final last year have the bit between their teeth to go one step further.

"It’s vitally important that we get off to a good start in the group because this is a competition we feel we have a chance of winning."
