Chelsea striker Diego Costa is known as a big hitter on the football pitch - but has he also been smashing balls about in Major League Baseball too?

The 27-year-old Blues hitman bears a striking resemblance to St Louis Cardinals favourite José Oquendo.

Oquendo, who this week reportedly headed to Florida to recover from an injury, was most recently working as third-base coach for the Missouri outfit.

He helped the Cardinals win two World Series as coach after ending his playing career with the club in 1996.

Known for his ability to play in almost any position, Oquendo was more defensive-minded than his Premier League lookalike who prefers attacking play.

It's uncanny, isn't it? Here's Oquendo:

And here's Costa:

Oquendo again:

And Diego again:

It's a pretty remarkable similarity.

One detail we should probably mention: Oquendo is 52 years old - so he's got a few years on the fiery Spanish international. Not to mention that injury trouble!

He does like a scrap though, as this video shows...
