CHELSEA defender David Luiz has denied team-mate Didier Drogba mocked Benfica during the Champions League quarter-final draw.

The Portuguese side are believed to have taken offence at a video on the Blues' website which shows Drogba's reaction to pairing Benfica in the last eight.

But Luiz insists the striker was reacting to the prospect of facing giants Barcelona in the semi-finals.

The former Benfica defender said: "If people watch the video closely, it's not directed at Benfica. He was talking about Barcelona because Barcelona are a very, very big team.

"Chelsea know how Benfica reached this far. They're a strong team. Drogba's character wouldn't allow him to disrespect another team."

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus insists the comments have added extra spice to the last-eight clash in Lisbon, adding: "Any responses we'll be giving to Drogba will be on the field and proving we are better than him."
