Petr Cech reckons this Chelsea team will only go down in history as one of the greats if they can prove it by winning silverware.

The Blues could still win an unprecedented quadruple trophy haul this season with the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup still all up for grabs.

Cech says that talk of capturing all four is premature but is excited by the potential the talented group of players are showing down at Stamford Bridge.

Talent: Oscar celebrates after scoring for Chelsea

“You can only judge the team by the end of the season when you see how much the team achieved,” Cech said.

“At the moment we have been doing remarkably well, but we have no trophy in our hands. Let's see what's going to be the case at the end.

“Obviously this team has the potential and quality to be one of the best teams in Chelsea history - if it proves it by winning trophies.

Working hard: Chelsea's Petr Cech warms up

“We try to win every game and let's see what it's going to bring us.

“The aim is here. We want to win as many games as possible, as many competitions as possible.

“But football is football - it's difficult to know how many of the trophies you can win.”

Huge potential: Eden Hazard's star is rising

Chelsea remain top of the Premier League, with a potentially tricky away fixture at Stoke being their next outing on Monday night. They now know that Watford will be their first opponents in this season's FA Cup with the Hornets due to visit Stamford Bridge on 4 January.

There is also the tantalising prospect of a League Cup semi final against Liverpool later that month, with the winners to face Tottenham or Sheffield United at Wembley.

And then, in February, they will again come up against last year's Champions League quarter final opponents Paris Saint-Germain when defender David Luiz will make his return to Stamford Bridge.
