Loic Remy says Chelsea’s players have been unaffected by speculation swirling over the future of manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho is reportedly one bad result away from the sack ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have made their worst start to a Premier League season since Russian owner Roman Abramovich took control of the club and they were knocked out of the Capital One Cup last night.

It is understood that Carlo Ancelotti is prepared to return to west London should he be offered the job on a permanent contract should the champions give the Special One the boot.

Remy, whose late leveller forced extra time against Stoke City at the Britannia, hopes that doesn’t happen and has refuted claims that the uncertainty over the manager’s position has caused problems.

He told the Evening Standard : "The spirit is good and we are not affected by the situation. We will just keep training well.

"We were champions together only last season and he is a really great manager. Of course I don't want him to leave. I think all the players don't want that.

"I'm really sure that Saturday will be a big game, but we can still be in the top four of the League if we win games.”

Remy may well be given the nod to start this weekend’s crunch clash with Klopp’s Reds after Diego Costa was rushed to hospital with a rib injury yesterday evening.

The Spain striker clutched his lower rib area following a collision with Stoke's Charlie Adam early in the game and appeared unable to run it off.

It looked to be a bruised rib injury and was forced off on 30 minutes after collapsing to the ground and waving on the medical staff.

Asked how serious the injury is, Mourinho replied: "He is in the hospital - I don't know."
