Frank Lampard is poised to return to Stamford Bridge on Saturday but Chelsea are out to make it a homecoming to forget for the legendary midfielder.

Lampard spent 13 glorious years in west London but will be wearing a different shade of blue this weekend as as his new employers Manchester City travel south.

The match sees the top two sides in the country face off and is likely to be crucial in deciding the final destination of the Premier League trophy.

Playmalker: Eden Hazard played with Lampard at Chelsea

After scoring a late equaliser in the reverse fixture at Eastlands earlier this season, the scene is set for an emotional roller-coaster when Lampard steps out at the Bridge.

Hazard, who played with the 36-year-old for two seasons at Chelsea, expects it to be a big moment but he is insistent on who will come out smiling.

“For him it is going to be one of the best moments of his career,” said the Belgian.

Will he be involved: Frank Lampard on the City bench

“We have to win unfortunately for him. It will be a good game.”

Chelsea presently sit five points ahead of nearest challengers City - a lead which has ebbed and flowed throughout the season.

Hazard says a win on Saturday will not mean it is game over in the title race but will undoubtedly put the Blues in a great position.

Big moment: Lampard after scoring in the reverse fixture

“If we win on Saturday it will be very good,” he added.

“We have led by eight points before. The season is still long, but we will be in a good opportunity to win the title.”
