Ramires has been ruled out of Chelsea’s Capital One Cup tie with Bolton Wanderers.

The midfielder has picked up a problem with his abductor muscle and will not feature against the Trotters.

Chelsea assistant boss Steve Holland confirmed the injury at his press conference this lunchtime but is hopeful it won’t sideline the Brazilian out for long.

He said: “It will keep him out of the game against Bolton and we will review it in the coming days.

“There will be some changes tomorrow and it will be an opportunity for some players to stake a claim.”

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard is set to sign a two-month loan extension with Manchester City which means he could return to Stamford Bridge on January 31.

Lampard scored a late equaliser against his old club on Sunday.
